History

Past
The area was founded in 1879 as New County. The name was changed to Langlade County in 1880. The village of Lily was created/formed in April 1885. The area formerly known as Twin Lakes was officially changed to Pickerel in 1904.

Present
Today, the scenic town of Langlade is home to 505 citizens. At one time, farming and logging businesses were abundant. However, today the major industries are logging and tourism. Whether you're here for fishing, hunting, snowmobile riding, hiking or boating, the town has beautiful landscapes for all to enjoy.

Our quaint town boasts year round attractions that include:
- Beautifully groomed snowmobile trails
- Great fishing on 7 waterways
- Open land for the avid hunter
- Well maintained ball park
- Picturesque parks for picnics and gatherings
- Scenic ride down state, county and town roads to enjoy the fall colors

Future
The state of Wisconsin is currently considering the identification of State Route 55 as a Scenic Highway.
